Position Summary

Under direct supervision, an incumbent of this class assists in a variety of mechanical  repairs,  installations,  and adjustments to plant auxiliary equipment including low pressure steam piping to a variety of equipment such as fans, tools, pumps, dehumidifiers, etc. Work assignments are initiated  by oral instructions  or written work orders and are checked during the course of and upon completion of the job by superiors. The Maintenance Worker (Mechanical) may work independently when assigned equipment or system monitoring responsibilities or when making minor or routine  repairs  to systems, valves, equipment, pumps, etc.

Qualification Highlights

  • 2 - 4 years of related experience

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Communicate effectively both orally and writing

  • Maintain detailed and accurate reports

  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with contractors and owners.

Position Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical and other installed systems;

  • Perform facility inspections and report on condition affecting operations;

  • Prepare and submit summary reports of conditions in buildings and recommend actions to be taken;

  • Review and understand equipment and methods of operation

  • Comply with all safety procedures and requirements;

  • Support any afterhours building needs and activities as required;

  • Attend training sessions and seminars

  • Other assigned tasks as requested.
