Position Summary

The Welder is responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding, and welds finishing operations in order to manufacture a product per the customer drawings, specifications, or other form of instruction.

Position Responsibilities- Essential


• Join, fabricate, and repair metal and other material by applying appropriate welding techniques
• Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine appropriate welding process to be used
• Inspect completed welds to determine structural soundness
• Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job (Higher levels would work under less immediate supervision)


Position Responsibilities- Non-Essential/Other


• Maintain welding equipment
• Conduct process inspection, certification, and documentation
• Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after all welding processes
• Perform other duties as assigned by the area supervisor


Essential Skills and Experience

• 2-5 year experience in various forms of welding
• Must be able to take and pass a welding test
• Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures with the welding field (this also has levels of increased knowledge with higher levels of this position)
• Excellent attention to detail and sense of urgency
• Ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality of work
• Demonstrated ability to perform repetitive tasks with focus on quantity and quality
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
• Demonstrates a high level of customer service and strong communication (both listening and speaking) and interpersonal skills
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
